One of the reasons why May is a wonderful month here at FishPal is because Sand Martins, Swifts and Swallows are starting to arrive and there are two bank holidays, which means there is the chance to go fishing.
So if you are planning a short break for salmon and trout this month do give the office a call. The FishPal site has everything you need to plan the perfect get away including places to fish, where to stay, along with fishing rod hire and guides. Tom Carter and his fishing team are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with help and advice across the country.
Mike Forbes with a cracking fresh springer from Dinnet & Deecastle yesterday.
A better week last week, finishing with 85 springers in the book. It's a step in the right direction and I hope we build on it for the rest of the spring. Conditions were good overall, with perhaps a nip in the air at times which didn't help, but all in all no complaints on that score. Looking ahead, a nice wee top up to keep river levels at their optimum, would be nice - read more.
"We are at that time of year when we reach a tactical crossroads. Do we persist with tubes and fishing deep, or start fishing near the surface with small flies? It's time to give the smaller flies - 8s and 10s and small plastic tubes a whirl". says Ross Macdonald, River Dee Reporter.

A fly that is great for peat stained water. With water temperature on the rise now as day temperatures start to head towards the twenties, giving us plenty of snow melt but not too much as the slower the melt the better for the coming months.

"I've just spent the last couple of hours enjoying some cracking trout fishing with two fish of 2lb 4oz and 2lbs 8oz within ten minutes of each other. Another two of similar size held on for a moment before slipping the hook and one bending it out altogether when it took off like a train. Cracking day with steady hatch of MB's and Olives looking good for the rest of the week as well." says Jamie Urquhart.

Fishpal are organising the annual Seatrout Fishing Night for 2018
After last years success, we had some very valid comments about it being on a Friday Night. So this year we are going to ask for owners and/or managers along with angling clubs to try and offer a Friday Night or a Saturday afternoon/evening and that will hopefully open up the event to even more anglers.
So the dates will be Friday 29 June and or Saturday 30 June. We aim to promote the fisheries, the rods on offer, and booking will be direct with the owner/manager/person in charge. Please do call or mail me with your details and offer for anglers. Email Tom Carter or telephone the office 01573 470612.
Please keep in touch, I will be compiling a list of fisheries on offer for Mid May.
