New Fishing Certificates created for two productive weeks.

The Aboyne Water Fishings Club was established in 1984 and owns the fishing rights on 2.5 miles (approx) of the North (left) bank of the Aberdeenshire Dee, immediately downstream from Aboyne Bridge. There are 8 main pools of classic fly water. Wading is generally easy and may not be required in high water. The beat caught 80 salmon and grilse with four fish of 20 lbs and over, and just over 40 sea trout, during the 2021 season.

The Club is creating three new Fishing Certificates in respect of each of the final two full weeks of the season, which ends on 15 October. This period has been fished by day rods (with some days not fully let) since the end of the season was moved permanently in 2012 from 30 September to 15 October for beats downstream of Aboyne Bridge.

This is the first opportunity to acquire rights in perpetuity in what is now often the most productive part of the season.

Catches
Last five years fish of at least 18lb, including three of 24lbs or more, have been taken during the period covered by the new certificates. The five year average for each week is 7 salmon and 1 sea trout – read more.

Facilities
A comfortable fishing hut is situated near the middle of the beat with cooking and toilet facilities. The beat has good vehicle access. The Club also owns a modern two bedroom cottage near the river, occupied by the full-time ghillie, Charles Booth.

Fishing Rights
The rights are transferable by Will, gift or sale, subject to the transferee agreeing to abide by the rules of the Club. Certificate holders have a right to a proportionate share in all the assets of the Club in the event of a winding-up, and the proceeds of this offer will be for the benefit of the Club.

Fishing Certificate
Members of the Club hold Fishing Certificates granting the right to fish one rod in perpetuity during a specified full week of the fishing season.

There has already been significant interest in the Fishing Certificates. Offers over £7,500 per certificate are invited.
