The Yair beat consists of 3 miles of right bank fishing bordering Peel to the top, approximately 300 yards above Ashiestiel Bridge, and Sunderland Hall to the bottom. Situated on a very attractive private estate, the beat offers a wide variety of fishing and boasts some spectacular scenery. There are more than 16 named pools, of which most are easily accessible, and these are divided to allow fishing for 7 rods. Rods are let from the first full week of April through to the end of November.
The fishing hut, which acts as the main meeting place in the mornings, overlooks the popular Boatpool in the middle of the beat and is also the best place for lunch, offering tea and coffee making facilities, gas hob and running water. Alan, the ghillie, who has been at The Yair for over 20 years and therefore knows the beat inside out, is always about to give advice and is known, most mornings, to have the kettle boiled in time for everyone's arrival. For those without 4x4s, and therefore unable to directly access the bottom end of the beat, Alan is on hand to help.
The Yair is a family owned and run beat and there are no major restrictions in place. It is fly only with rods rotating at 1pm.
The Yair has four superb self-catering holiday cottages on the estate, all within easy reach of the river.
