Overview

This beat lies approximately one mile east of Walkerburn and is easily reached via the A72, the main Peebles to Galashiels road. It is a most attractive beat with about one and a half miles of fishing.

There are nine pools: Bar Stream, Bar, Willows, Kaimknowe, Scrogbank, Avenue, Birkie, Cootstone and Stump. It is all bank fishing or wading with some interfering trees, therefore the ability to roll or spey cast is an advantage.

There is one ghillie provided to look after the four rods allowed to fish. He will meet you each morning, and advise you throughout the day.

There is a hut provided and access to the beat is from the car park off the main road.

For a comprehensive list of places to stay whilst in the Borders visit the Where To Stay section on FishTweed.

A beautiful beat but it needed a good run of fish . Few lies to hold fish. Graham the ghilles very helpful and appeared to know the beat well. Chilly day due to strong westerly wind. All left bank so casting on the upper beat very taxing for right handers

Anon
