Over 100,000 rod/days to choose from!
In 2022 Stobhall anglers will fish the
Upper Beat on Monday ,Wednesday and Friday
Lower Beat on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The water on Stobhall is varied and ranges from some wonderful fast runs offering first class fly fishing, to deeper pots which hold fish at all water heights and are perhaps more suited to spinning.
The beat as a whole fishes best given a rise in water.
On the Lower Beat Stobhall benefits from the awesome Campsie Linn and the legendary Linn Pool. At Campsie Linn (the highest volume waterfall in Britain) the whole of the Tay is forced through a narrow gap in a rock ledge and gushes out into a huge boiling cauldron, the legendary Linn Pool.
In the spring the Linn Pool is one of the best casts on the whole Tay, especially if the river is high and fish are queuing to run the Linn.
Set against the backdrop of Stobhall Castle, Taymount House and steeply sloping wooded banks the scenery at the Stobhall is positively breathtaking.
Stobhall is an excellent beat throughout the season. In late summer and autumn the whole beat is normally full of fish providing glorious sport.
There are two highly experienced and knowledgeable ghillies and on each beat there are two boats as well as a well appointed fishing hut.
Unless otherwise directed by the head ghillie only one rod is permitted to fish from the boat at any given time.
Stobhall has always had a reputation as being a big fish beat. In the past many of the Tay's monsters were caught here. Several fish over 50 lbs were landed from the Major's Cast early in the 20th century.
Please note that tenants are not permitted to hire or engage any additional guides, ghillies or boats other than those provided by the proprietor.

ANGLERS BOOKING FISHING AGREE TO BE BOUND AND ABIDE BY THE AFOREMENTIONED CONDITIONS
In the event of the tenant being unwilling or unable to fish the tenant is still liable for the full rent plus VAT (if applicable) and the agent reserves the right to recover all monies due, plus any further expenses incurred, from the original tenant. The proprietors shall not be bound to refund any rents paid in the event of cancellation for whatever reason.
The proprietors require tenants to adhere to the then current recommendations of the appropriate District Salmon Fisheries Board “DSFB”, any variation of which from the point of let to date of fishing shall be deemed to be binding on tenants and no refund of monies paid will be considered as a result of the DSFB changing its recommendations.
A tenant may not sub-let the beat, if a tenant so sub-lets all fishing will be forfeit and cancelled without further discussion or refund.
Rods may not be shared on any one day without prior permission of the ghillie or ourselves.
The fishing will be by boat and bank with 4 rods bank fishing and one rod in each boat at any given time, boats will be available to everyone fishing on a rotational basis.
The agent and proprietors let the rights of fishing only, and do not accept responsibility for the natural hazard and adverse climatic conditions out with their control affecting the catching of salmon.
Please note that in line with general practice, refunds will not be given for fishing spoilt by inclement weather, poor water conditions or in any other circumstances which could not reasonably have been foreseen or predicted and are out with the proprietor and agent’s control.
The proprietors accept no responsibility for loss or damage to tenants or his party's property from whatever cause arising nor for any injury to the tenant or any member of the fishing party. In the interests of safety, no alcohol should be offered or given to the ghillies during the fishing period.
Lifejackets or buoyancy aids have been provided of a design that will not impair your ability to fish in comfort. We strongly advise you to wear one when using a boat or when wading in strong or deep water. If you don't, you are doing so at your own risk. If you are not happy with the equipment provided, or any other safety issue, please ring us immediately, so that we can arrange for the situation to be rectified. A charge of £30 will be made for replacement gas cylinders. Clients and guests are advised to wear and use their own personal protective equipment where appropriate. This should include chest waders, eye protection, wading stick and appropriate clothing.
The lead named tenant is responsible for the fishing party at all times when fishing. Should the lead tenant not be present at any time a person must be nominated to take charge of the party.
Clients are strongly advised to take out a Public Liability Policy, covering themselves and their guests, for not less than £2,000,000. The insurance cover in the fishing huts does not extend to the property of tenants. If you wish to leave your belongings it is at your own risk and you are advised to ensure that you have adequate insurance cover for sports and other items when travelling.
The tenant is not permitted to hire or engage any additional guides, ghillies or boats other than those provided by the proprietor. In the interests of safety, the ghillie's decision on all fishing matters is final and binding.
Should any other dispute arise between the tenant and the ghillie, the agent must be informed as soon as possible and certainly before the expiry of the let.
There is a mandatory catch and release policy in place whereby all fish must be returned to and including 31 March. In addition, as a condition of let, the proprietors require that in addition ALL FISH MUST BE RETURNED UP TO 30 JUNE. You must report full details of any fish caught to the ghillie promptly.
If you have any problems with the standard of service provided, please tell the ghillie straightaway and if you don't get a satisfactory response, please contact Atholl Sporting immediately, so we have time to act before you leave. Failure to do so will severely hamper any chances of us obtaining fair redress for you.
You need to bring your own fishing equipment (rods, reels, lines, flies etc) unless you have specifically agreed with Atholl Sporting well in advance that they supply this for you. You need to be reasonably healthy and mobile to access most fishings. If you are not, you must notify Atholl Sorting before you book, to ensure that you can be looked after safely and properly.
Anglers are reminded that parking of cars should be in designated parking areas and is always at the angler’s own risk. In the event that a Tenant or his guests bring dogs to the riverside, he will ensure that they are at all times kept under control and, in particular, do not cause a nuisance to the proprietors and their tenants or to occupiers of adjoining land. The Tenant or his guests will ensure that dogs do not foul the area around the car park and lunch hut and will remove any such fouling immediately or when asked. Dogs are NOT PERMITTED in the lunch hut at any time.
