Newtyle

Fishery

Newtyle beat is centred around the village’s of Dunkeld and Birnam, small towns in Strathtay, Perth and Kinross, Scotland, approximately 13 miles north of Perth on the eastern side of the A9 road into the Scottish Highlands. Approximately one hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh airports, and two hours from Inverness by car. There is access by rail at Dunkeld and Birnam railway station, on the London to Inverness route and there are regular bus and coach services to Birnam and Dunkeld.

Newtyle are able to offer a variety of salmon and sea trout fishing on the prestigious Newtyle beat which comprises of two miles of very picturesque middle River Tay. Throughout the beat there is 2 miles double bank with 16 named pools. Conditions are suitable for both the fly and spinning and can comfortably accommodate the novice and more experienced angler alike with good vehicular access to both banks.

From 15th January- 28th February there will be a maximum of 8 daily let rods.

From the 1st March - 15th October a maximum of 6 rods will be available for booking.

Exclusive use of the beat for a maximum of 12 rods including tackle is obtainable. Please ask for any assistance.

Tickets can be purchased online for bank or boat fishing.

Boat fishing is for a maximum of two anglers. Fishing is by traditional harling or from an anchored boat at ghillie’s discretion. For safety reasons Newtyle do not recommend that more than one person fly fish’s from the boat at the same time. David Gardner, Newtyle head ghillie, offers high customer service levels and is a superb Spey-casting tutor and will be present each day from 8:30am to 5:00pm to offer beat advice.

Please note that the Newtyle beat is a keen supporter of the Tay District Salmon Fisheries Boards Conservation Policy and encourages all Newtyle guests to follow these guidelines.
