Gordon Castle

Fishery

Conveniently situated less than an hour from both Inverness and Aberdeen, the Castle Water Beat is part of the Gordon Castle Water fishings and runs downstream for approx 2 Km from the old Fochabers road bridge. It is a 6 rod double bank beat with 2 boats and 6 named pools. Downstream from the bridge they are, The Bridge Pool (400m), The Upper Birks Pool (300m), The Birks Pool (300m), The Spoot Pool (300m), The Slabs Pool (300m) and the Quarry Pool (200m). Most of the entire length of the beat is fishable and it is only 4 Km to the mouth of the River Spey.

The beat has a very comfortable hut with a veranda, has plenty of room for fishing guests and looks onto the Birks Pool. The hut has a wood burning stove and is equipped with a double gas ring cooker and a certain amount of cutlery and crockery. There is also a WC on site.

Fishing is with fly only and a largely catch and release policy for salmon and sea trout is in force. We fully support the Spey Fishery Board’s Conservation Policy and please note that in line with new Government legislation, all fish caught before the end of April must be returned.

Fishing can be booked through the estate office (01343 820244) direct or through Fishpal. Availability can be seen on the Gordon Castle Website or on Fishpal.

Accommodation:

Nestling in the beautiful Spey Valley, we have a selection of well equipped and spacious holiday cottages where you can enjoy an idyllic self-catering countryside retreat in the grounds of the Estate. We are sure your stay will be a truly memorable one.

River Level

Since the 11th of November, SEPA's hydrology information systems have been impacted as an external supplier experienced an IT security issue. Most of their water level data is available, however there are some sites where we are unable to publish data.
