The River Ness hosts one of the most productive summer and autumn runs of salmon in the North of Scotland with fresh fish being caught up to the last day of the season, October 15th. Ness Castle Fishing, is arguably one of the most productive salmon beats on the River Ness. It boasts over a mile of double bank salmon fishing, and has some of the finest fly water, with pools such as the famous Black Stream, Lady Pool and The Laggan. Nesscastle has 5 star facilities, with a large, fully equipped fishing hut. Fresh fish run throughout the year. However, the most productive period is from early July until the season ends in October.
The beat offers superb fly fishing and the majority of fish are so taken. The Silver Stoat, Yellow Ally and Cascade are popular and effective patterns.
In recent years, numerous improvements to the holding capacity of the beat have been carried out.
In addition to the fishing, the fishery have also secured the services of Head Ghillie, Max Mckinstrie. Max is on hand to help angling guests throughout their stay and offers expert advice to those anglers keen to improve their casting techniques.
