Despite salmon being present during low conditions they are often difficult to tempt.
Experienced anglers visiting these waters should not only take a double-handed salmon rod (13-15') but also go equipped with a trout rod to take advantage of the good wild brown trout fishing to be had on the local lochs and sea trout in some of the sea lochs. River boundaries and fishing rights extend up to 1 mile from the river mouth so please avoid this area unless you have permission.
Fishing the river lochy
Ben Nevis
Lochy Fisheries Trust is a charity working towards the protection of all wild fish and their habitats across Lochy. We liaise with river owners, managers, anglers, government agencies and others to ensure that the region's fresh waters are protected and managed sustainably.
Our work with river owners and managers to review fish populations and river habitats allows us to protect and preserve this wonderful and precious natural resource.
Many of the fisheries operate full or partial catch and release policies to try to maintain our natural populations of wild fish. When you come fishing in Lochy you know you are fishing in well-managed rivers with owners who care about sustainable fishing and wish to ensure that our fish populations persist for many thousands of years to come.
