Morphie offers approximately one and one quarter miles of double bank fishing providing excellent fly water with eleven named pools.
Vehicular access to the river is good with a well-maintained track running the full length of the beat on the southern bank. A well-appointed bothy is situated at the upper end of this track*.
The north bank can accessed by car at the top and bottom of the beat although a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended.
The beat offers a quiet, relaxed, some might say tranquil, atmosphere where noise pollution is greatly restricted and, in the main, emanates from the river itself and the abundant wildlife.
An excellent “stress buster” which is interrupted only when a fish or grilse comes to the fly!
The recently refurbished and extended self-catering lodge**, which is situated approximately 250 metres from the river, offers four double, one twin bedroom and five bathrooms. The property is finished to a very high standard and provides a large comprehensively equipped kitchen, comfortable lounges with wood-burning stoves and a separate dining room. A secure rod room, with freezer, is attached.
The beat does not currently employ a ghillie, however should you require one Tom and June Marshall come recommended, who are also excellent casting coaches. Their contact details are provided in the booking confirmation email.
*Morphie was badly flooded in November 2023 which means the bothy is currently closed for works and the south bank tracks are unaccessible by vehicle until further notice. Repairs are not expected to be completed before the 2024 season.
**The lodge accomodation is not available for 2024 season whilst it undergoes renovation
