Overview

The beat lies between the north and south Burn Estate beats and extends for approx 600 yards north of the suspension bridge at Edzell and to the south for approx 800 yards beyond Arnhall Farm. There are no arrangements with the opposite bank which although only lightly fished should be afforded the normal courtesies.

The beat is at the bottom of the Edzell gorge and the river bed is a mixture of exposed sandstone and gravel which is subject to movement in high water, consequently lies can alter from season to season. The beat fishes best in a highish water as fish tend to linger before moving upstream into the narrower and more turbulent gorge pools. There is a mixture of slow deep pools and fast runs which can provide optimistic and interesting fishing when conditions are in your favour. Best time (on average) - Mid April /Mid May and October.

There are no formal paths and the banks are as nature intended.
