Invery and Tilquhillie is one of the best-known beats on the lower section of the River Dee. It is situated at Banchory, around 20 miles from the coast making it a good resting spot for spring fish. In addition, it is just downstream of the junction with the tributary the Water of Feugh which attracts a good run of grilse and sea trout.
The beat is recognised for its ease of fishing, both wading and from the bank. All huts are well provisioned with heating, lighting and toilet facilities. There is excellent vehicular access and parking.
Ghillie Colin Simpson has over thirty years experience of the river and is a widely respected authority on salmon flies. Colin is on hand to explain the water and determine the rota for fishing as the beat is managed in three sections each for two rods - Invery north and south banks and Tilquhillie. There are 16 named pools with characteristics such that the beat can be fished at all water heights. The Bulwarks at Invery and the Floating Bank at Tilquhillie are amongst the best holding pools on the whole river.
The use of life vests is recommended but these are not supplied.
