Glen Tanar Estate - Deecastle Beat
Deecastle Beat has 5.2 kilometers (3.2 miles) of magnificent fishing, from 22 named pools on the south side of the Dee.
There is a bank and ghillie-sharing agreement with the opposite Dinnet beat that allows fishers to enjoy double-banked fishing during the Spring season. The Spring fishing season starts on the 1st of March and runs until the 30th of June 2024. During the Spring 6 rods can fish the beat except for March when only 4 rods can fish. The services of a shared ghillie are included from the 1st - 23rd of March, after which the beat benefits from the services of two ghillies from the 25th of March until the 30th of June.
There are 2 fishing huts and shelters on the beat, with more on the Dinnet side. Access to the beat is by car along tracks to most of the beat. However, there are also paths along the riverside on both banks that allow access to all parts of the beat on foot.
The beat is fly fishing only and has a complete catch and release policy.
