Deecastle is a fly fisher's dream.
With over 3.2 miles south bank fishing and 22 pools, the beat presents the angler with a wonderful array of fishing on a stunning part of the Dee.
The beat has 5.2 kilometres (3.2 miles) of magnificent fishing, from 22 named pools on the south side of the Dee.
There is a bank and ghillie- sharing agreement with the Dinnet beat opposite that allows fishers to enjoy both banks of this fantastic stretch of river, doubling the length of river available in the spring season.
The beat winds its way through wonderful farmland and woodland scenery. There are 2 huts and shelters on the beat, with more on the Dinnet side. Fishing is available by the week, part week or on a daily basis. The beat is managed jointly between Glen Tanar and Dinnet Estates.
The beat has three main fishing periods; early spring, spring and summer. The early spring period is for the month of March when four rods fish the beat (two rods on each bank). From 1st April to 30th June, six rods fish the beat. The beat- sharing agreement is for the spring periods. In the summer, from 1st July to 30th September, two rods fish the beat from the Deecastle (south) side.
Access to the beat is by car along tracks to most of the beat. There are also paths along the riverside on both banks that allows access to all parts of the beat on foot. Dinnet bridge is the main crossing point between banks and is at the bottom of the beat.
The beat has fly fishing only and a complete catch and release policy.
Self-catering accommodation is available on the estate. For further details on the fishing or accommodation please contact the estate office or look at the Glentanar website
