The Oaks Fishery offers productive fishing across a range of species and methods. There are plentiful trout to 5lbs which will come to the fly or spinner, and there are some very large pike too - 30lbs plus. The large lake is set in a peaceful valley surrounded by mature woodland, and it is hard to believe it is less than 10 minutes' drive from the bustling town of Derry/Londonderry.
There are Cabins available which are set in beautiful woodland adjacent to the lake. The cabins and facilities are rustic in nature, but provide everything that is needed for a comfortable stay including a toilet and shower block. For the angling needing tackle and equipment, there is a comprehensively-stocked shop on site provided everything that may be required.
The Oaks offers tuition through its Fishing Academy, which was established in 2022 with the aim of improving physical health & emotional well-being of the local community via encouraging a love of fishing and the outdoors. The Academy provides safe, accessible angling opportunities as well as tuition and educational workshops to allow everyone to learn and enjoy angling.
The owner Ian Gamble is an Advanced Qualified APGAI Ireland single and double handed casting instructor. He can provide casting tuition (beginner to advanced level) at The Oaks or further afield: his main operating area is the north west of Ireland (Derry, Donegal). He provides an excellent guillie/guide service for salmon, sea trout, brown trout and rainbow trout
