River Management

The Loughs Agency is an agency of the Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission (FCILC), established as one of the cross-border bodies under the 1998 Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of Ireland.

The Agency aims to provide sustainable social, economic and environmental benefits through the effective conservation, management, promotion and development of the fisheries and marine resources of the Foyle and Carlingford Areas.

Fishery Management

The Conservation and Protection directorate of the Loughs Agency has responsibility in all aspects of fisheries management including fisheries protection and scientific evaluation and monitoring.

The Agency has teams of locally based staff in the North west, Omagh and Carlingford. In addition, the Agency operates several fisheries protection vessels in the Foyle and Carlingford areas to assist with the conservation and protection of fish stocks.
