Overview

The estuary is an Area of Special Scientific Interest and an important breeding and wintering ground for wild fowl.

Sea Trout move in and out of the estuary with each tide, particularly between June and September.

The angler at this time is likely to enjoy very good sport, with fish in the 1 -3lb range. Also present in large numbers are the elusive and wary Grey Mullet and the predatory Bass.

Due to the size of the area and the specialised nature of the fishing, the use of a guide is recommended..

The Estuary is fished by means of a Lower Bann Game Angling permit.
