Selset is surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the North Pennine grouse moors, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The wild brown trout in Selset reservoir are 100% native, having descended from the original upland brownies which lived in the streams before the dams were built. Lightning-fast reflexes and hard fighting. Unique colours and markings, these fish are a joy to catch!
Full Day Permit £9
NEW Fantastic Four season permit £90 - allows fishing as often as you like at Balderhead, Selset, Cow Green and Blackton
There are few more tranquil and relaxing ways to spend a day's fishing than roaming the banks of Selset waters and even fewer places where you can catch 'wild' brown trout. Constructed in the 1960's and lies at an altitude of 310 meters. Selset is 107 hectares in area and larger than its sister reservoir, Grassholme, into which it drains. To get the best out of this water you need to keep on the move. Brook fishing methods with sparsely dressed spider patterns work well.
