W/C 8th of April

This week has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I for one am getting a bit sick of it! I don’t think the river has been below 2,6ft since opening week back in January.

With a 8ft water to start the week off and after more rain the river getting to 5ft another 3 times and it was dropping in nicely, yesterday the hight was 4ft and clear but everything is on the rise again after last night rains.

Looking forward is going to be potentially dry so by Thursday the rivers might have dropped back in to a fishable height.

Fish deep with sinking lines and copper tubes, even spinners if fishery rules allow

Plenty of rods and beets available for trout fishing on the Eden, I know very little about trout fishing however early season hatches of March browns and olive types can be hatching from 12-2 and with the right conditions the hatches can last a good while , this time of year is best to find some of the specimen Eden trout of 3lb+.

If any trout anglers wish to send in any photos of there catches this would be much appreciated.

John Norris’s are having a guideline open day at Warwick Hall on the 20-21st of April more information can be found on there social media’s and in store.

Also the Eden rivers trust tri-annual auction starts next Monday, I shall be posting a link for when it comes out.

We at FishPal would like to thank Terence McDonnell for his regular reports, he is a farmer who started fishing for trout as a young boy. The late Victor Gubbins, Eden Lacy beat, introduced him to salmon fishing a few years ago along with Andrew Jackson, and since then he has been passionate about it. Working on the land near the Eden, Terence is never far away from the river as we thank him for his reports.
