W/C 15th of April

The week started with a 6ft water but by late Wednesday the colour had dropped out and would be fit for the fly. Three fish lost off at Low House Armathwaite beat on Wednesday. By Thursday conditions were almost perfect with don clark catching a 12lb sea liced fish from Low House, Warwick Hall also catching a fresh fish and a fish 10lb fish reported from the Lazonby area (down stream from Eden Lacy), a few more fish have been caught from private waters lower down on the Eden this weekend aswell.

Looking forward is mostly overcast this week with an odd bit of rain but nothing to major, almost a perfect week for salmon fishing.

Eden Lacy will be worth a shout especially if the water continues to drop in, long Meg, Johnstone and Cave Pools, the big deep holding pools below the falls more than ever.

With all the recent water fish are spread out thought out the Eden system.

The river is currently 2’9 and clear and water temp around 10’C/50’F possibly time to change to the floating lines and sink tips if your using sinking lines. Flys wise I’d be going coneheads/ally tubes and size 8/10 flys, cascades, shrimp types work well aswell as monkeys and Willie guns. Possibly even Sunrays if you know the fish are there.

Trout fishing- the Grannam have started and are around in good numbers from 12-4pm also trout activity seems to have picked up with fish seen feeding for most of the day.

The Eden rivers trust auction is now live, check out the lots here, lots of great items!

We at FishPal would like to thank Terence McDonnell for his regular reports, he is a farmer who started fishing for trout as a young boy. The late Victor Gubbins, Eden Lacy beat, introduced him to salmon fishing a few years ago along with Andrew Jackson, and since then he has been passionate about it. Working on the land near the Eden, Terence is never far away from the river as we thank him for his reports.
