W/C 18th of March

Another fish for Low House last week on Monday with a FishPal rod catching a 18lber in Robson’s on a black and yellow copper tube (the river height at Great Corby was 3,9ft). There was also a fish was lost at Low House on Wednesday, apart from that it’s been a similar week with rain keeping the river above 3ft, but as you can see Low House still produces fish up to 4ft.

Looking forward to the week ahead it’s going it’s going to be rain most days nothing heavy but enough time keep the river around the 3ft.

The river is currently currently 2,10 and clear with water temp at 7.5C/48’F

The trout season will have been tricky for the first 10 days with higher water but there has been a few good fish caught, yesterday I witnessed a good number of March browns hatching around about 1:30pm.

Plenty of rods and beets available for trout fishing on the Eden, I know very little about trout fishing however early season hatches of March browns and olive types can be hatching from 12-2 and with the right conditions the hatches can last a good while, this time of year is best to find some of the specimen Eden trout of 3lb+.

If any trout anglers wish to send in any photos of there catches this would be much appreciated.

For salmon I’d suggest various depths of sinking lines and leaders with copper tubes of various Lengths. Black and yellow and Willie guns work well on the Eden in early season.

John norris’s have some  events coming up, either in store or on the river bank, with the Guideline day happening again in late April and many days in store with special guests covering all types of fishing not just salmon.

Also the Eden rivers trust are running there tri-annual auction in the next few months.

We at FishPal would like to thank Terence McDonnell for his regular reports, he is a farmer who started fishing for trout as a young boy. The late Victor Gubbins, Eden Lacy beat, introduced him to salmon fishing a few years ago along with Andrew Jackson, and since then he has been passionate about it. Working on the land near the Eden, Terence is never far away from the river as we thank him for his reports.
