Getting here

The trip to the river takes 8 ½ - 10 hours from Boston or Central Massachusetts depending on traffic and road conditions. It is about 500 miles from Boston. There are two primary choices for reaching Fredericton, N.B. In either case you go North on Interstate 95 to Portland where you get on 295 which rejoins 95 in Augusta.

Generally speaking there is very little time spent waiting to enter Canada. Check for the latest official Canada border crossing laws and regulations. this page

This is the fastest route from the U.S. into New Brunswick. Stay on Rte. 95 all the way to Houlton. Cross the border at Houlton and take Rte. 2, the Trans Canada to Fredericton, then Rte. 8 which runs through all the major towns along the Miramichi River.

Check local maps. Reaching these border crossings requires driving over slower, two lane roads.

There are a number of commercial flights to the Fredericton Airport (approximately ½ hour east of the City of Fredericton, 2 hours by car into camp). Connections may be made via Halifax, Montreal or Toronto. There is a smaller airport for private and charter planes located at Chatham, across the Miramichi River from Miramichi City (formerly Newcastle). This airport is about 50 minutes by car to camp. Others fly to Bangor, Portland, or Presque Isle where cars are rented for remainder of journey.

There are duty free shops for the purchase of various goods including alcoholic beverages located near each of the border crossings. The shops can inform you of the legal limits.

Many spend the night in the city of Fredericton prior to arriving in camp the next day. Most lodges change over at noon time.
