Fishing with the Lodge only, sleeps 14
4/5 rods with full time ghillie
5 yr 191 salmon and grilse
Fly only

The fishing is let with the Lodge only. Braelangwell is situated on the left bank of the Kyle of Sutherland River Carron, and offers approximately 4 miles of fishing with 33 named pools. There is a full time ghillie available. Fishing is fly only and is let for 4 rods unless the water levels are above 0" on the Morail gauge when 5 may fish. The western most pools - Frenchmans, Millers, Burnmouth and Charlies are outside the beat rotation we share with Gruinards fishing and can therefore be fished at any time. Otherwise the fishing is divided into two beats (Upper and Lower) that change daily at 1.00 p.m. The main body of the Morail, which is a mere 200 yards from the Lodge, can be fished at any time; in low water it is a good place to teach beginners to cast whilst in higher waters it earns its reputation as the most prolific pool on the river. When over 2" on the gauge the ghillies will advise fishers that the beat rotations may be dropped. Please note that we ask our guests to always be respectful of those you may encounter on the opposite bank at all times.

In the last 5 years the Cascade, Ally Shrimp and Willie Gunn have caught more than any others on but try to make sure you have a variety of flies, both in size and dressing in order to make your exploits successful. We have a good selection of flies suitable for all conditions on sale at the Lodge. Please note that treble hooks are banned throughout the Kyle of Sutherland. Rods must adhere to the KOSDSB Catch and Release policy and we ask all fishermen to sign a bio-
security declaration form before going down to the river.

The River Carron is a spate river rising on the West Coast by Ullapool and its catch is therefore dependant to a certain degree on the weather conditions - its 5 year average is just short of 1,000 salmon and grilse. Braelangwell's 5 year average is 191 salmon and grilse and 72 sea trout. We adhere to the Unified Conservation Policy of the Kyle of Sutherland and aim to return all fish up to the 15th June and thereafter may keep their second fish of less that 65cm per rod. Last year the Carron returned 96% of the catch and Braelangwell an impressive 97% and 98% of sea trout. Any bleeding fish is the property of the estate. From the April to the end of September Braelangwell is only available with the fishing. We hope you enjoy your stay at Brealangwell and to fishers TIGHT LINES.
