There are some lovely fish being caught, but not on the usual flies for this time of year. Put away heavy tubes and heavy sinking tips as all you will do is bounce the bottom. In these conditions, dressed doubles, ½” and ¾” tubes and Conehead patterns will get you to the desired depth.

FishPal's Joe Early reports from Ireland. He fished Abercorn last Monday and saw a few fish, but none were interested in his fly.
The Moy have had a good run of fish in the 10-12lb bracket with 9 reported from East Mayo Angling Club between 6-10lb. Sea trout on Lough Currane are doing well with specimen fish of approx 5 lb being caught. 26/4/17 was Father and Daughters Day on Lough Currane. Aemilia Timmermans, while fishing with her father Mr. William Timmermans, caught two fine salmon on the troll, both were in the 7 lbs bracket.

There have been a few salmon reported from the Munster Blackwater during the last few days. Jason Corcoran caught a cracking fish of around 10lbs
at the Ballyduff Bridge fishery on a CCK Partridge.
There were 5 salmon on the troll from Melvin last week. With very little rainfall, the Drowes has continued to run at low levels once again and has reported 7 fish so far up to 12lbs this week.

The far northern rivers have had a good week with the Cassley doing really well with 7 fish to date on the lower beat.
The real winner is the Tay at present, where there is some good fishing from Cargill up to Dunkeld - latest catches.
