Anglers out casting a line have enjoyed some excellent sport during the last few weeks. The River Spey which was lightly fished in April produced a 27lber at Ballandalloch, a 25lber at Arndilly and 31 salmon on Gordon Brae Water beat.
The River Tay is fishing very well with some beats seeing their best early season fishing for many a year.
May is the most consistent fishing month of all rivers for spring fishing throughout Scotland and Northern England. With a general warming of temperatures it really is time to dust down those rods and get out, and who knows you could be the next FishPal Malloch Trophy winner. The last two winners have caught their winning fish in Spring.
We don't know what the summer weather patterns will bring, we do know that May and June are good months to go fishing.
Please give Tom a call in the office on 01573 470612 if you need any help arranging your fishing trip this year, including recommendations on where to stay or guides to use. For the latest fishing availability this month please follow this link.

Angling Active Stirling says "This range of rods has caused quite a stir within the salmon fly community. The price point screams out as the main advantage, but we sometimes hear of customers buying them as a backup rod just in case they break their favourite (more expensive) rod and then end up switching to the Oracle because they just love it" - read more.

Thank you to Malcolm Newbould for the weekly Spey Fishing Report. Again the catches are reasonably well distributed from above Grantown to the sea. It is nice to see a few sea trout being caught, judging by the cold nights I assume most are being picked up whilst fishing for salmon. As the catches improve, availability is disappearing fast.
The Spey Fishery Board and Spey Foundation Briefing for May 2016 has now been published and is available to read and download here.
