Fishing Is Looking Good

A delighted Orazio Gatti from Milan with a 15lb salmon on Lower Crathes Dee.

With summer fishing improving on many rivers a days fishing this August is looking very attractive and it does not need to cost you a fortune either.

The Dee reported 126 salmon last week, entering August in better spirits than any previous month in 2015. With angling conditions looking good for the week ahead, there is a sense of guarded optimism on Deeside. The fish are not hanging about either and are moving through the system - find fishing.

The quality of the salmon continues to be remarkable on Nessside with fish of 24lb and 15lb being caught - find fishing.

The river Spey again has seen some consistent and great sport for the whole of the month of July and continues what is turning out to be a good season so far - find fishing.

Recent rains on the river Tay have given the river plenty of fresh water and this has triggered off an improvement in the summer run with 150 salmon reported up to 29lb last week - find fishing.

Last week on the river Tweed provided some good fortune for anglers with over 100 salmon reported on the FishTweed site and even more sea trout caught, 129 up to 13b - find fishing.

Last August we visited the Hebrides and enjoyed some outstanding fishing, with wild trout up to 9lb on Finsbay lochs and sea trout on Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Estates famous Loch Voshimid - read more. In Septembers newsletter we continue our fishing trip to Hebrides with news on more beats we fished and salmon we caught.

Summer is one of the best times to fish the Hebrides and last weeks report confirms this with anglers catching 77 salmon and 122 sea trout. A snippet from last weeks fishing report; The guests fishing the Amhuinnsuidhe loch systems found the cold North East wind made catching fish difficult, however, Ian Jones, Head ghillie, reports that his party managed to land nine salmon and 53 sea trout for the week with the heaviest salmon (5lb-8oz) - read more.

Nith Sea Trout Experience

Boatford Upper Beat, Kenny Urquhart's Team.

The River Nith Sea Trout Experience held during the last 8 weeks has now come to a close with valuable information on fish populations reported by anglers.

Good numbers of sea trout have been caught, along with some notable specimens. Also of note have been the numbers of both grayling and brown trout captured by anglers engaged in sea trout fishing, a good sign for the river and welcomed by all - read more about the experience.

With a wet and miserable start to August on the Nith, the river settled down and produced some cracking sport for anglers last week. If you would like to fish the Nith you can check the latest availability here.

Fishing The River Tyne

Rae Borras from Fishing TV visited the River Tyne last September and fished 3 beat's - Warden Fishing, Bywell and Chollerton.

Though the river was on its bare bones with no rainfall forecast - fish were still caught on the fly. You can catch a sneak preview here of this highly informative and interesting video. If you have not fished the Tyne before the full video gives you a real flavour of what is available including information about what to see in the local area.

Contact Tom on 01573 470 612 for places to fish on the Tyne in August and Autumn.

Autumn Fishing

Autumn salmon for Andy Wiggins fishing Ladykirk on Tweed with Eoin Fairgrieve.

Autumn is a time of great anticipation for salmon anglers and for good reasons, it's no coincidence that the biggest catches have coincided with wet years.

There is still some good Autumn fishing on the site - find fishing.

No doubt there will be days ahead this Autumn when the fishing is tough, the river too high, the weather atrocious and the fish just not playing for an infinite number of unfathomable reasons. When you book a day online with FishPal it comes with the option to add fishing insurance.
