Fishing on the West Coast of Scotland
The west coast of Scotland has some of the most varied and spectacular scenery to be found anywhere in Scotland. These rivers vary from being truly wild, unspoilt spate rivers which fish best on falling water following a rise in levels, to rivers such as the Lochy which will fish well in all heights of water. The riparian rights on these rivers are often under single ownership. Experienced anglers visiting these waters would expect to use double handed rods in the 13' - 15' range on rivers such as the Lochy but they should also go equipped with a trout rod not only to take advantage of the good wild brown trout fishing to be had on the local lochs but also for sea trout in some of the sea lochs.
Despite salmon being present during low conditions they are often difficult to tempt. Experienced anglers visiting these waters should also go equipped with a trout rod not only to take advantage of the good wild brown trout fishing to be had on the local lochs but also for sea trout in some of the sea lochs. The most notable of these sea trout destinations is Loch Maree.
