Description

The Lees is situated just upstream from Coldstream and contains the famous Temple and Cauld Stream Pools from which some remarkable catches have been made when conditions have been right. There are eight other named pools and nearly two miles of fishing of which half a mile is double bank. There is a good rod hut with a fire and a second hut for the gillies, both are easily reached by car.

Being within easy reach of tidal waters The Lees gets a reasonable run of spring fish in addition to its prolific late summer and autumn run. The spring and late summer fishing provides excellent value for money, especially when the gillie and boats provided are considered. One gillie is provided in the spring, although extra gillies can be obtained if required at extra cost. In the autumn there are three gillies who are experienced and enthusiastic and many rods have reported back as to how well they have been looked after. The Lees has consistently proved to be amongst the best beats on the Tweed, with a 10 year average of 423 salmon and a 20 year average of 406 salmon.

The beat is let for 4 rods, mainly on a weekly basis but occasionally on a part-week basis.

Please note that taking spring fishing gives the tenant first refusal for an eventual autumn week. The owner reserves the Temple Pool on Saturdays and one rod after 5.00pm all week; and in the Autumn the bottom pool (the Annay) is reserved all week (except Saturdays).
