By road

The Tweed lies close to all major arterial routes connecting the Scottish Borders with England and central Scotland.

There are three major trunk roads within the Borders: The A1 which runs through Berwick and up the east coast, the A68 which connects Newcastle to Edinburgh and the A7 which runs across country from Carlisle and the M6.

All routes are complemented with numerous minor roads interconnecting the length of the river.

By air

Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle International airports are all within 1-2 hours travel time from Tweedside with many direct flights from Europe and the USA landing daily.

Visiting anglers to fish Tweed often use Edinburgh Airport in particular, due to its close proximity to the Borders (approximately 1 hour).

Each airport has direct connections to over thirty destinations and has over 25 scheduled daily return flights to London.

Airline carriers like Easyjet and RyanAir offer excellent discount fair options, making air travel to the Tweed very cost effective and accessible.

By train

To reach the Tweed by train could not be easier. The main rail link from London to Edinburgh actually crosses the River Tweed at Berwick.

From Berwick station, the river can be accessed within 10 minutes to an hour, depending on which beat you are fishing.

There are over 15 trains running daily between King's Cross and Edinburgh and from Berwick to London takes approximately 3.5 hours.
