Description

Dryburgh North Beat, overlooked from famous 'Scots View' and the Wallace Statue, is situated in a beautiful location close to the Eildon Hills where the River Tweed loops round historic Dryburgh House and Park. The two miles of double bank fishing which is fished as two beats provide sixteen named pools holding fish throughout spring, summer and autumn. The water is fished as two beats which alternate on a weekly basis. The upper beat runs from Monksford below Bemersyde to the steps below the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel, with the lower beat running from here to the Long Stream about half a mile above Mertoun Bridge. The fishing provides most attractive streams and pools with ample wading, set amidst a stunning and historical landscape. Each beat is provided with a well equipped hut with running water, wc and electricity. There is an extremely experienced resident ghillie/boatman with a second ghillie taken on in the autumn.
