Berwick & District
Angling Association

The River Whiteadder is the last tributary of the River Tweed before it enters the North Sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed. It runs through a most interesting and picturesque part of the eastern Borders and has long been acknowledged for its fine salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing. A number of fishing beats on the lower River Whiteadder are administered by the Berwick and District Angling Association which issues daily, weekly or season permits to local and visiting anglers.

Day salmon permits cost 30 with a season salmon permit for 150 per season (Feb to end November) discounted to 125 for OAPs with conditions now available. These tickets include the right to fish for brown trout.

There are a number of named beats on the river and these are the only places where migratory fish can be taken.

Brown trout

Brown trout can be taken from any of the association water with the purchase of an association trout permit.

All fishing is by fly only. Please see permit for details.

Permission to fish is given subject to the Rules of the Association and the terms of the Tweed Angling Code.
