About FishTweed

FishTweed is a web-based marketing service with call centre provided by FishPal to promote freshwater angling in the River Tweed and its catchment.

Background

FishTweed was created in 2002 by James Leeming who is one of the principal letting agents on Tweed. With encouragement from Tweed proprietors and other agents, James developed a web based service to promote angling opportunities, arrange bookings and provide additional information and services to anglers, fishery managers and local service providers to enhance the overall Tweed freshwater fishing experience.

At the end of 2003 Tweed fishery proprietors agreed to rent the FishTweed franchise from FishPal (then FishScotland) and formed an association (TRFA) to do so. This ran until the TRFA decided in 2011 not to renew the franchise, preferring a looser arrangement with FishPal. The franchise is now run in house by FishPal

Membership

All proprietors/managers of freshwater fisheries within the Tweed and Eye catchments are eligible to be members of FishTweed and there are no annual subscriptions for this. Any lets made through the system attract commission. The system also provide fisheries with their own free web sites

River Tweed management

FishTweed is about helping you to book and organise your Tweed Fishing. It does not have any role in how the river is run. For these details please have a look at these sites:

River Tweed Commission: Regulates the various Tweed fisheries under the Scotland Act 1998 (River Tweed) order 2006

Tweed Foundation: Charitable trust set up by the RTC to protect and enhance fish stocks
