Fishing on the River Tweed

The River Tweed has always been internationally famous for its salmon fishing, with people coming from all over the world to fish it.

It ranks among the very top salmon rivers in the world. The 2014 Season, in line with other east coast rivers, finished down on 2013 with 7,767 salmon recorded to the River Tweed Commission and 2,050 Sea-trout. Ten fish above 25lbs were caught in 2014, one of which returned the FishPal Malloch trophy to Tweedside once again.

There is huge range of fishing available throughout the salmon season, which runs from 1st February to 30th November, much of it at surprisingly low prices.

When not fishing, you will find the Scottish Borders a fascinating area to explore, with many interesting things to see and do

Other fishing in the Borders

Tweed's fame as a salmon river has meant that it has often been ignored for its other types of fishing. This is quite wrong, as both its brown trout and sea trout fishing are excellent and too often underestimated.

Permit policies differ from club to club, but generally they offer daily, weekly and season tickets.

Tickets are available here on-line too from a number of Trout Clubs.
