So far this season the counter at the Pitlochry dam has recorded 5,026 fish. Anglers fishing the river have caught over 2000 fish so far this season up to 34lbs.

Meikleour Fishing

First salmon at 8lbs for Gaelle Courtois from France.

Calum McRoberts reports "Plenty of grilse seen moving through the beat which is very encouraging.

Mr Speare lost a fish on the spinner first cast in the House Pool and went on to land his first fish on the fly from the same pool just before lunch. He caught a second fish weighing 10lbs in the afternoon on the Rapala with another three fish hooked and lost, so clearly a few about today!"

Meikleour beat commences at the junction of the Tay & Isla Rivers and extends for approximately 1.7 miles upstream. It is perhaps for the Islamouth and Castle Pools that they are most famous. Only two places are now left on the very popular course with Gary Scott. The two day course includes fishing on Dunkeld beat with tuition and accommodation on a DBB basis.

Benchil Catches

Second fish for Malcolm Anderson last weekend.

Malcolm Anderson wrote "Benchil beat on the Tay gave me a second fish two Saturday's in a row. He who is ready just sometimes gets the fish.

Many thanks to Bob for looking after us again, great company and loads of laughs. Some bigger fish about and looking very positive to get out there and have a cast. Also if these fish keep on coming in it could be a very good Autumn" - find fishing.

Fishing Report

Farquhar Murray caught his biggest fly caught salmon on Newtyle Beat yesterday.

Salmon and the odd grilse were landed throughout last week. Another steady productive week with around 100 fish landed and the biggest recorded at just under 20 pounds - read more.
