Description

The Lower Aberuthven beat is on the Earn half a mile east of Aberuthven village.

The beat is one mile long and has seven main holding pools depending on river height. There is safe wading and good access for the less able. The beat also boasts a good stock of Grayling and wild Brown Trout.

Please note that the beat has recently finished ten years in the Water Margin Scheme run by the Scottish Government. This scheme required the river banks to be left untouched to allow insects to thrive and hopefully fall into the river as feed. The resulting overgrown vegetation has now been cut back to allow better access to the pools.

Directions to the fishings

From South/Southwest

Take the A9(Perth) until you see the SECOND sign saying "Auchterarder/Aberuthven".

Drive PAST this sign for 0.75 miles and you will see a large green road sign on the left which says Dunning/Findo Gask.

Turn LEFT apporximatley100yds BEFORE this roadsign.

There is a 6ft x 6ft red sign at the farm road end advertising PYO fruit (in season), and TWO cottages 200yds up farm road.

We are the first ONLY farm road joining the A9 on the left, and there are reflectors at the road end.

From North/East

Follow A9 for Stirling until you CROSS the River Earn (8miles south of Perth) at which point there is a sign for Dunning/Findo Gask.

STAY on A9 for 0.75 miles after river and look out for a BLUE sign saying Parking 1/2 mile.

Move into right hand lane and turn into central reservation 300yards further on.

Cross over into farm road. and follow directions as above.
