Fishery conditions

Rules & Conditions
To help prevent an out break of GYRODACTYLUS SALARIS, which has had catastrophic effects on some foreign rivers, all rods fishing must complete a Gyrodactylus declaration form on arrival at the fishery. This states that either you have not used your fishing tackle abroad in the last three months, or you have done so and had it properly sterilised; or you have fished and NOT had it sterilised. In the latter case, you must agree to sterilisation taking place before you start fishing and accept that there may be some delay in getting this organised as this cannot be carried out at the beat.
1 All anglers must report to Gary Harkin, Head Ghillie, before fishing. Anglers should meet at the top fishing hut at 08.30 ready to start fishing at 09.00.

2 Fishing is from 9.00am - 5.00pm, with the exception of lunchtime which is 1pm 2pm.
3 There are generally up to 8 rods available for let with the house retaining 2 rods which may be fished periodically. Boat fishing may be available at the discretion of the ghillie. Please note that the standard ghillie service is included in our prices. A personal ghillie with boat for the day is also available at extra cost of £100 + VAT per day, subject to availability, and must be booked in advance.
4 Dependant upon water conditions and rod numbers/requirements there may be a rotation arrangement imposed, alternating between the upper and lower beat on a hal daily basis.
5 Life jackets must be worn at all times when fishing from bank, wading and when in the boat and these are available from the top fishing hut. A charge of £20 will be made for replacement gas cylinders.
6 Pools are fished in rotation, starting at the top and gradually moving downstream. Do not enter a pool down-stream of fellow anglers.
7 Sharing of rods is not permitted.
8 All salmon/sea trout caught must be reported to the Ghillie, who will maintain fishing records. Should the Ghillie be absent, tenants are requested to leave a note of catches in the top fishing hut or by telephoning the Ghillie.
9 The Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board has undertaken a conservation initiative, particularly of spring fish, and it is a condition of the let that you abide by the Board's catch and release code.
i) All fish to be released from 15th of January to 31st of May.
ii) From 1st June to 15th October: all hen fish to be released; all cock fish over 10lbs. to be released; only one clean cock fish weighing less than 10lbs may be retained per angler per day.
10 Fly fishing and spinning are permitted. No worm fishing.
11 No litter to be discarded. Please take it home or bring it back to the fishing hut to be disposed of by the ghillie.
12 Follow the Country Code, particularly in relation to dogs, risk of fire and gates. PLEASE NOTE: any dog brought to the beat must be kept in your vehicle but can be exercised at lunch time. Dogs must be kept on a lead and owners must clean-up after their dogs. Dogs are not allowed in the fishing hut.
13 Be considerate to fellow Anglers.
14 The tenant shall not be permitted to assign his tenancy or to sub-let except with the express permission of the proprietors or their agents.
15 The ghillies' word is final.
16 Rents are payable as follows: when a full week booking is made more than two months in advance a 25% deposit, which will be non returnable, must be paid to confirm; the balance will be payable one month prior to the date of fishing.
All other bookings must be paid in full to confirm the booking Please note that all rents quoted are net of VAT The proprietors shall not be bound to refund any rents paid in the event of cancellation for whatever reason. 17 The proprietors will accept no liability whatever for damage, injury or loss to the persons or belongings of the tenant, or those in his party, from whatever cause arising, nor can they be held in any way responsible for adverse weather conditions or acts of God. NOTE: Contravention of the above rules may result in future access being denied.

Tay conditions

2. The season is from 15th January to 15th October inclusive on the Tay and all tributaries, except the Earn and Eden which are 1st February to 31st October.

3. There is no fishing allowed on Sundays.

4. It is illegal to intentionally foulhook fish.

5. No prawns or shrimps can be used at any time.

6. The Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board who are responsible for the management of the fisheries, requests all anglers to abide by a code for the conservation of salmon, especially spring salmon which have become much scarcer in recent years. Anglers are urged to adopt a catch-and-release culture and never to kill any fish which they do not require.

From the start of the Season to 31st May

All fish are to be released.
Anglers should not fish with worms.

From 1st June to 15th October:
All hen fish of any size and all cock fish over 10 pounds should be released.
All coloured and gravid fish should be released.
No more than one clean fish weighing less than 10 pounds should be retained per angler per day.
Anglers should not fish with worms in September or October.

Sea trout:

All sea trout should be released throughout the entire season.
