Description

The Findynate Fishingճ are a very attractive stretch of double bank fly water on the upper Tay set amid scenic surroundings. The two beats offer fishing at almost any height and are capable of producing fish throughout the season, many of them still with sea lice.

In medium and lower levels the smaller pools and fast runs are a delight to fish with the fly. A sink tip or intermediate line is generally recommended in such conditions but a floating line can be used in summer. Ally shrimp, willie gunn, stoats tail and munro killer are often successful in a variety of sizes.

In higher water the larger main pools can be fished with fly and spinner to good effect. A fully sinking line is best especially in colder water with larger tube flies. Spinning with Tobys, flying cճ and Devons of various weights and colours allow the larger pools to be fully covered.

Prawn, shrimp or worm fishing is not allowed on either beat.

There are no time restrictions on either beat with morning and evening fishing encourage in summer. If you do not wish to book a gillie for the day you will be shown the beat on your arrival and given suitable advice for the conditions.

The beats are accessible by car with new fishing huts. There is a wide range of accommodation available in the area.

For the 2010 season the Findynate Beat will be fished on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with fishing for up to three rods. The Cloichfoldich Beat will be fished on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for up to 2 rods. An extra rod can be made available on each beat depending on water conditions.
