Overview

Rothes and Aitkenway is located 50 miles from Inverness and 50 miles from Aberdeen. The beat lies close to the village of Rothes and comprises 1.5 miles of double bank and a further 0.5 miles single left bank.

Records over the last 10 years evidence an average annual salmon catch of 465 fish from 13 named pools. The beat is fished by six rods using fly only.

From June onwards the sea trout run adds to the enjoyment of salmon fishing.

Access to the left bank is from Rothes and although access does exist through Arndilly Estate, the right bank is normally reached by boat or wading.

The beat is well managed and employs two full time ghillies. River works have been sympthetically carried out to maintain the banks and productivity of the beat.

There are two modern timber fishing huts which are well equipped, providing comfortable facilities.
