Last week

(Last updated: Monday 21st August)

Laurence Locke had 4 grilse, all around 3lbs - two from the Boat Pool, one from Majors and one from Alport. Gillies Mackenzie landed two better fish for his two visits with a 6lb-8oz salmon in Majors on a size 11 Calvins Shrimp and a 7lb fish from Tagging on a small Calvins Shrimp tube fly. Ivar Macary had two grilse from the Long and Boat Pools on Wednesday and Donnie Whiteford had 2 fish at 3 and 7lbs from the Long Pool the same day with all the fish coming to a Stoats Tail.
The lochs produced 2 very small grilse on Wednesday and Saturday for Nicky Mackinnon and Kenny Nicolson.

Stornoway Angling Association held their final competition (Maciver Cup) of the season on Loch Langabhat during Saturday, August 19th. A very wet morning greeted the 11 hardy anglers, however the afternoon brightened up but didn't improve fish catches! 52 trout were caught in total with Bruce Mackenzie winning the competition with 8 trout for 5lb. Although the competition is purely for brown trout, three salmon were "accidentally" hooked, one landed, along with a couple of sea trout.
