(Last updated: Tuesday 21st May)
Prospects of a fish this week are pretty good judging by recent catches which include three salmon on the Bladnoch and one on the Cree yesterday (Monday). Weather wise, we might be disappointed. Although there are showers forcast tomorrow (Wednesday), only yesterday we were threatened with a weather warning for heavy rainfall and nothing has come of this - it has been sunshine all the way today! As a consequence, the rivers are dropping off in height quite quickly. Chances of a catch are therefore likely to be best in areas that fish well in lower water (Linloskin, Machermore and Kirwaugh).
When fishing the Cree and Bladnoch this spring, please respect the river rules and return all spring salmon caught up until the 1st of June. Anglers who return a salmon on the River Bladnoch can qualify for a side of smoked salmon if they produce a scale sample and picture of the salmon on its safe return.
