Description
This loch is just over 100 acres. It is a productive coarse fishery which is well known locally for offering exciting angling opportunities. The pike can be very large
with one specimen over 39lb recorded. Perch, roach and recently bream can also be very large. Perch and roach are regularly caught in the 1-2lb range with occasional 3lbs
caught. Wild trout are also sometimes caught. The loch is surrounded by beautiful countryside including woodland round nearly a third of it. Parts of the water are
sheltered making it suitable for fishing even during blustery weather.
This water is particularly well known for its large pike and many fine specimens are taken by trolling from boats or dead bait ledgering from the shore.
To protect the high quality of this fishery all coarse fish must be returned alive.
Fishing access is easy to the North East shore with safe vehicle parking near to the waters edge. This fishery is only about 100m from Loch Heron. Over night fishing
shelters are permitted.
As across Scotland, the use of live fish as bait (i.e. live baiting) is strictly illegal.
Angling can be easily undertaken from the bank in particular near the car parking. Boat fishing is also permitted with own boats, a launching pier is present, although
outboard engines must not exceed 5hp. Shore fishing in the drop off in front of the slipway can be very productive although vaning or ballooning may be required.
Accommodation is available very close at the Three Lochs Holiday Park. The park also has a well stocked shop which offers a wide range of fishing tackle and light
refreshments.
This loch is part of the Holker Estate fishings which offer an exciting range of coarse, trout and salmon fishing all within a short distance of the Three Loch Holiday Park
(also see Loch Heron, Black Loch and Airyligg Fishings (on the Tarff) pages). To see a location map
