(Last updated: Monday 3rd April)
The start of the season on Stirling Council Fisheries has been pretty slow, however last week (w/c 27th Mar) proved to be a little bit more productive. We had the 2nd confirmed springer and also the 3rd confirmed springer landed. One of the fish was caught in the Geisher Pool on the fly and the other was caught spinning near Normans Pool. Both of these fish were caught by two of our regular anglers. Reports are now coming in daily from anglers on the Teith confirming they are seeing fish running the beat. I am hopeful that our next fish on the Teith is caught very soon. Sea trout are now also being reported in the system and if water temperatures warm up I would expect these to be starting to get caught soon.
Down on the River Forth at Stirling we are still awaiting our first salmon to be landed. The water is looking great just now, with water levels expected to drop and the morning tides in our favour I am hopeful our first Forth Springer will be landed this week!
Season and day permits are available at a very reasonable cost.
We have now had 3 springers landed in Callander. 1 fish around 7lb caught spinning in the Black Hole, 1 fish around 17lb caught on the fly in the Geisher and 1 fish around 17lb caught near Normans Pool spinning.
