Description

Salmon fishing at Lethen includes the choice of prime beats on the beautiful River Findhorn from early May to the end of September.

The three rod Dunearn Beat is the top beat of the Lethen water and offers the angler every type of pool and stream in the Findhorn book. The two rod Daltra and Altnahara Beats are let together and rotate over the week combining to provide a superb variety of angling opportunities as the river passes through the steep Altnahara gorge and then moves to the open landscape of the Daltra beat.

The Dunearn Beat, (17 named pools) provides most fishing for the three rods when running at a medium to high level but in contrast in low water conditions the rocky falls pools just above Dulsie Bridge come into their own along with other white water throats & runs.

The Altnahara Beat is immediately below the Dunearn Beat but in every respect offers a different set of challenges to the angler. For its entire run of 15 named pools it is set in a magnificent gorge. This beat offers the angler the most fishing when the water conditions are on the low side. The river then emerges from the steep Altnahara gorge into the more open Daltra Beat (13 named pools) which offers a wide variety of fishing from high water levels downwards, perhaps really coming into its best on a falling river to a medium height. The combination of the Altnahara Beat with the Daltra Beat ensures that so long as the river is in a fishable condition there are always excellent angling opportunities in a number of pools up and down the beats.

The fishing is normally let by the week. The price per week for 2 rods varies from à822 to à1600 inc vat.

Day lets are also available and are mostly taken up by local anglers.

New tenants are shown the water by our River Keeper.

Accommodation is available with the fishing.
We let Dunearn Lodge (sleeping five couples) with the Dunearn Beat and Dulsie Cottage (sleeping two couples) with the Daltra/Altnahara Beat.
