This week is providing some sport but mainly on the lower beats and the river levels are beginning to drop back and settle.
Gallery, Kinnaber seem are being most consistent, but with the current forecast this should suit the river will a possible lift or two
to keep the salmon on the move.
NORTH AND SOUTH ESK REPORTS FOR THE WEEK COMMENCING 16-4-18
BOTH THE NORTH AND SOUTH ESKS HAD SIMILAR FLOW TYPES THROUGH THE WEEK – WITH HIGH WATERS MID WEEK THAT MADE FISHING CONDITIONS VERY DIFFICULT DURING THIS PERIOD. HOWEVER BEFORE AND AFTER THE HIGH WATER BOTH RIVERS WERE CATCHING FISH. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE NOT TOO BAD WITH ONLY A FEW PERIODS OF HARD WIND GUSTS, HEAVY RAIN AND COLOURED WATER.
THE NORTH ESK HAD A REPORTED TOTAL CATCH OF 20 SALMON. THE LARGEST BEING TWO 17LB SALMON CAUGHT ON THE PERT BEAT. ALSO SEVERAL MORE WERE CAUGHT AND LOST ON THE GALLERY BEAT.
GALLERY – 5, PERT – 8, STRACATHRO – 5, AND CANTERLAND – 2.
THE SOUTH ESK HAD A REPORTED CATCH OF 2 SALMON AND 1 SEA TROUT. THERE ARE UNCONFIRMED REPORTS THAT SALMON WERE CAUGHT ON THE KIRRIEMUIR ANGLING CLUB WATER AND ALSO AT BALGLASSIE – THE REPORTS WILL BE UPDATED
