Situated in the heart of Donside, Littlewood Estate offers the angler 4.5 miles of single left bank fishing. Set in a beautiful area the beat is surrounded by a mix of open fields and woodland.
With a wide variety of pools which all fish at different heights the beat is perfectly suited for flyfishing with fast runs and deeper holding areas.
Most of the pools can be easily fished from the bank or along the waters edge.
Good access and parking is available throughout the beat.
Spring salmon can be landed in April with numbers increasing throughout May.
Grilse and summer salmon appear from June onwards giving good sport.
September and October see the pools fill up with autumn fish which provide fantastic angling.
Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain regulary fished on Littlewood Estate waters in the 1930s, demonstrating that Littlewood is also the perfect place to relax and unwind.
The upper beat boundary is situated at Ardhuncart where the Mossat Burn enters the river Don, the lower being opposite the Leochel Burn (south bank).
As on other stretches of the river Don, Littlewood beat has been very lightly fished in recent years and the catch figure reflects this.
Accommodation can be found nearby at the Kildrummy Castle Hotel, the Kildrummy Inn or Forbes Arms Hotel at Alford Bridge.
