Prospects for coming week

(Last updated: Monday 17th July)

I am hoping the forecast rain materialises. We have had some small rises, but I think a decent flush would do us all a world of good. The beginning of the week will see us bathed in sunshine with air temperatures up to 25c/77f. On that basis, some early and late fishing might be a good idea. Water temperatures are also high, up to 65f/19c. The necks of the pools are the most oxygenated, so pay close attention to them. I hope we get some decent rain midweek and again on Friday.

The floater and small flies remain the best tactic, but it always pays to remain flexible and try other things. So, if the Executioners and Crathies aren't producing, trying fishing a Francis deep. A hitch tube is popular among several ghillies and is well worth a go.

As ever, listen to your ghillie!
