(Last updated: Monday 13th August)
The river level has dropped away and once again, we are looking for significant rain. The forecast is for light rain and drizzle, which won't do much for the river. Overhead conditions are looking good and the breeze is from the south-west. There are still fresh grilse sneaking through, but we really need to good deluge to really kick-start the last leg of the season.
Small flies and floating lines remain the best approach, but as always be prepared to change tactics. Small, long-tailed flies like Cascades and Ally' are a good bet as are the usual hairwings, Silver Stoats and Crathies. A stripped Sunray can also be fun if there are fresh grilse about.
As ever, listen to your ghillie.
