Park Trophy

With some large Salmon being reported caught on the Dee most weeks, it is pleasing to announce an exciting development for all anglers fishing the River Dee from 2009.

The large fish catches have caught the imagination of that well known, innovative former chairman of the river Dee board, Mr John Foster from Park Estate, who has decided to donate a trophy.

The Park Trophy, as it will be known, will be awarded on an annual basis to the angler who has landed the heaviest fish of the season from the river Dee that is verified.

The trophy will be kept by the angler for a year and will be returned to the river board office for the following year's winner to collect.

There will be a press release at the time of the award.

2010 recipient Jesper Holm Nielsen receiving the award from Ken Reid.

Rules

The fish must be caught by an angler using a method that complies with the Dee conservation code guidelines, and the fishing beat conditions at that current time.

The fish must be witnessed by the Ghillie or another person if no ghillie available, and have scale samples removed for analysis and sizes taken of the length and girth. Any supplemental photography is helpful for corroboration with relevant capture information. It is important to alert the Ghillie when a big fish is hooked or keep the fish in a knotless net in the water whilst the Ghillie is summoned to confirm the capture of the specimen. The fish must be caught during the fishing season and not the close season. All attempts must be made where possible to return the fish safely to the river. There is a 3 man committee who will review the candidates for the award at the end of the season. Tight Lines to all River Dee anglers and good luck.
