Description

The beat has 6.4 kilometres (4 miles) of magnificent fishing, with 14 named pools, fished from both banks. It is in a beautiful area with a mixture of open fields and trees. Fishing is available by the week, part week or on a daily basis. The beat is managed by Glen Tanar Estate.

The beat has two main fishing periods, spring and summer. The spring period is from 1st March to 30th June when four rods can fish the beat. From 1st July to 30th September two rods can fish the beat. From the beginning of the season until 30th June the beat has the services of a full-time ghillie, after which ghillying is by arrangement with the estate office. There are five fishing huts on the beat with some on both the North and South banks.

Access to the beat is by car along tracks to the main pools. The main crossing points to get to each bank are the Dinnet and Aboyne bridges. There are also paths along the riverside on both banks that allow access to all parts of the beat on foot.

The beat has fly fishing only and a complete catch and release policy.
Self-catering accommodation is available on the estate.
