The Mar Estate fishings start at the Linn of Dee and run for approximately 6 and a half miles down to the confluence of the River Clunie at Braemar. The Proprietors stopped fishing in 1994 when the River Board introduced measures to address declining salmon numbers. Very light fishing was re-introduced in 2005, but after 2010 when substantial numbers of salmon were seen in the river, fishing will be let again from 2011.
The River Dee salmon rod catch has risen significantly in upper river beats over the last 10 years. The fishing is strictly catch and release in accordance with the River Dee conservation code which FishDee beats support.
There are 2 rods out of a total of 4 rods for let at Mar with some superb fly water. It is located right in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park and provides the angler with the opportunity to see a wide range of wildlife.
The fishings are divided into two two-rod beats rotating each day at 1pm. There are 13 named pools - a map will be emailed after each confirmed booking.

If conditions are poor, there is much else to do in the area with the opportunity to have a round of golf at Braemar, the highest 18 hole golf course in the UK at around 1,200 ft above sea level.
