Five year average: 184 salmon/grilse
and 68 sea trout
1.25 miles left bank fishing with 10 pools
Maximum rods 3
1 gillie, 2 huts
Price range £57 - £200 per rod day
This is superb fly-fishing water which fishes well in a wide range of heights. At normal spring levels much of the fishing is from the bank but waders are regarded as essential so that one can release fish without doing them harm.
This is a beat which has seen greatly improved catches in recent years. The 5-year average has risen by over 150% since the year 2000.
The March and Calm Pools, Lucky Hole, Whinbush and Clay Pot are all sheltered from cold northerly winds. There are some excellent runs and lies to fish and all within easy
distance of an admiring audience at the picturesque hut with its cosy fire. Downstream the Willow Bed, Lower Willow Bed, Bend and Boat and Village Pools are all encouraging
casts. Almost the whole of the 1.25 miles of the water is fishable.
The river bank is a treasury of wild flowers and oyster catchers, curlews, dippers and long tailed tits are among the many birds to look out for. Watch out too for the otters and deer.
Rod-for-for Kincardine Beat provides the best sea-trout fishing on the Dee. In the summer while some sea-trout are caught during the day-time by salmon fishers the best
results come from the activity of skilled and dedicated sea-trout fishermen around midnight.
FISHING HUTS
A superb new fishing hut was completed in 2011 and is located approximately mid-point along the beat overlooking the rushing river Dee. It is large, well insulated and
heated with a log-stove. It has large windows and an even larger verandah. It also has a composting toilet.
