Overview

The Dess fishings consist of two beats, Lower Dess and Upper Dess. Located just outside Kincardine O’Neil on the Lower Dess Estate the beats are easily accessible and provide a tranquil yet exciting experience.

The Lower Dess beat consists of approximately 1.25 miles of single bank fishing and provides 11 top quality pools.

The Upper Dess beat provides a more secluded setting with a further mile of fishing, including 8 pools offering excellent fast flowing and calm water areas.

Both beats have had work carried out in recent years to provide sufficient access to pools for fishing from the bank, enabling fishing of pools throughout the whole season and a safer environment for beginners. Combined, the beats offer a variety of natural habitats offering an excellent opportunity to see plenty of wildlife, including Red and Roe Deer, Red Squirrel, Osprey and many more.

Guests have the use of the award winning Upper Dess fishing hut, designed by acclaimed architect Michael Rasmussen, the hut provides a welcoming location for lunch and wildlife appreciation on wet days. The Lower Dess fishing hut at the Jetties pool, ensures a safe haven for refreshments and personal belongings.

With many weeks being let to long-established guests this is an opportunity to experience fishing on the prestigious and beautiful beats of Dess.

Lower Dess Estate also offers guest accommodation:

Mill Cottage; self catering, sleeps 4 people in 2 twin bedrooms.

The cottage offers a casual but charming sitting/dining room with a wood burner and TV and there's a rod room steeped in fishing history. Of particular interest is the south facing bay window offering beautiful views up and down the river.

Mill of Dess Lodge; Lower Dess Estate owners Jeremy & Jenny Clayton converted a farm steading on the Estate into a truly luxurious 10 en-suite bedroom lodge which offers top-end accommodation to guests. Each bedroom is individually designed and named after a pool on the Dess beats. The dining and sitting rooms offer the highest standards of comfort for both small and large parties. There's a well equipped Boot Room for drying and storing outdoor kit. The Lodge is available on a fully catered basis (dinner, bed & breakfast) or B&B only, using locally sourced produce. Even the dogs are well catered for with a separate kennel block on site.
